Work is underway on the next phase of Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront, with Bunbury businesses central to the Casuarina Drive foreshore redevelopment.
This phase, part of Stage 2 of the waterfront project, includes landscaping and revitalisation works along Casuarina Boat Harbour, installing community amenities and improving access for residents and visitors.
Environmental Industries has been appointed to complete the first phase of the $10.8 million Casuarina Drive foreshore redevelopment, following a competitive tender process.
Environmental Industries has committed to engage local businesses for 60 per cent of the work value of the project. The tender process encouraged employment opportunities for local sub-contractors and suppliers, including a specific Local Business Registration opportunity.
The works will also be staged to minimise the impact on surrounding businesses, particularly during the peak tourist season.
In addition to the Casuarina foreshore works, which are managed by DevelopmentWA, Stage 2 includes upgrades already underway to the Jetty Road causeway.
The State Government’s 2020-21 State Budget included an additional $78.1 million allocation for Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront – Stage Three, Phase One, on top of the $34.4 million invested in Stages 1 and 2 of the project.
The Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront project is led by the South West Development Commission, in partnership with DevelopmentWA, the Department of Transport and City of Bunbury, in collaboration with the Bunbury Development Committee.
