Who will be named this year’s South West Business Person of the Year?

The countdown is on to the announcement of this year’s Star Business Person of the Year.

And a buzz is building as to who will be named the winner of the prestigious accolade.

The award is presented as part of the South West Business Excellence Awards, organised each year by BSW Connect to celebrate and recognise the achievements of the region’s business community.

The awards are supported by many sponsorship partners, with the City of Bunbury the principal partner and the South West Development Commission a major award partner.

This year, SWDC is sponsoring the Star Business Person of the Year award as part of its commitment to supporting local businesses.

SWDC chief executive officer Mellisa Teede said the awards program helps the region to maintain and increase its competitive edge by giving participants a chance to benchmark their performance against other successful enterprises.

“The South West is home to many outstanding businesses, and the South West Business Excellence Awards serves as a great platform for giving these businesses some well-deserved recognition,” Ms Teede said.

“At the Commission, we work to grow the economy in a number of ways. This includes connecting local businesses to opportunities on major projects like the Bunbury Outer Ring Road through our local content program, as well as our TradeStart program which assists businesses to achieve success in the international marketplace. So, we are well aware of the skills and capabilities of local businesses – and think it is fantastic to see some of these businesses receive formal recognition for their achievements.

“I extend my best wishes to all the finalists in the Awards, and congratulate BSW Connect for its continued efforts to highlight achievements in the region’s business community.”

BSW Connect awards program coordinator and deputy chair Robyn Morris said there were 31 finalists across 20 categories in this year’s awards.

“The BSW Connect coordination team was again delighted with the level of interest shown by the South West business community in the 2020 Awards with many award categories being tightly contested and several very high calibre applications received for Star Business Person of the Year,” Dr Morris said.

Award winners will be announced at a gala presentation night on Saturday March 27 at the South West Business Excellence Awards.

Tickets on sale to the public from Monday February 15 at bswconnect.com.au .
