Another win has been delivered for Bunbury’s Halifax Business Park, with the completion of a new slip lane that will increase safety and improve ease of access for vehicles entering the precinct.
The turning lane – from South Western Highway into the southern end of Halifax Drive – forms part of a wider enhancement project made possible with $3 million from the State Government.
The initiative is aimed at improving safety, access and infrastructure for current and future businesses.
South West Development Commission chief executive officer Mellisa Teede said the improvements were designed to create a business environment more conducive to growth and investment attraction.
“If we want our local businesses to succeed and support local jobs, then we need to ensure the right infrastructure is in place so they can be as successful as possible,” Ms Teede said.
“The completion of the slip lane marks another milestone in this important infrastructure enhancement project. It is a fantastic outcome for Halifax and I congratulate the members of the Halifax Working Group that we have been working in partnership with to coordinate this project.”
The road enhancement component was project-managed by the City of Bunbury, with local contractor JAK Civil engaged to complete the works which involved widening the existing shoulder and constructing the slip lane.
Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the Halifax Business Park remained a priority area for the City and the latest upgrades marked yet another milestone.
“It is fantastic to see this project completed with the new turning lane allowing for smoother and safer traffic flow on the highway and improving truck and vehicle access into Halifax Business Park,” Mayor Brennan said.
“It is just the latest initiative for the area and on behalf of the City, I thank and congratulate the State Government on its support and work in the area.”
Bunbury MLA Don Punch welcomed the latest milestone on the Halifax Business Park enhancement project.
“This project is a direct result of consultation undertaken with business owners in Halifax so I am very pleased to see it come to fruition,” Mr Punch said.
“The slip road is one of a suite of improvements that have been delivered in Halifax to make it an even better place to do business.
“There is an enormous amount of capability in Halifax and it is a real asset to Bunbury so it is an area more than worthy of Government investment to realise its potential.”
