Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront – Update

Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront – Update

Works on the $10.8 million Stage 2B Casuarina Drive redevelopment are well underway as part of the State Government’s Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront project. The site has been cleared, excavated and the contractor is progressing coastal protection works required to retain and reinforce the projects walls, ramps and stairs. Structures for the shelters over BBQ areas have also been installed.

The Jetty Baths playground and surrounding precinct is now closed and the timber play structure has been removed. The playground, originally constructed in 2000, no longer met standards and was suffering from termite damage. A new shaded playground will be constructed in its place, featuring:

> ‘Naturescape’ elements including clambering rocks, tree trunks and seashell fossil digs.

> Interactive nautical elements including a compass and telescope.

> ‘Imaginative play’ sand kitchen and locomotive train.

> ‘Active play’ cantilever swing set.

> Universal access ramp leading to a tower with slide and ladder.

What’s next:

> Installation of remaining services.
> Steps, terraces, ramps.
> Pavement works.
