Bunbury Development
The Bunbury Development Committee was established by the State Government to continue growing Bunbury as Western Australia’s second city.
The South West Development Commission-affiliated Committee is ensuring cross-government and stakeholder coordination is delivered efficiently to create better community outcomes on transformational projects.
These projects include Koombana Park/Mangrove Cove, Withers Renewal, Glen Iris Liveability and Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront.
As custodians of the development vision for Bunbury, the BDC:
- Pays close attention to development, renewal and place-making proposals
- Provides strategic guidance
- Ensures effective communication and information sharing relevant to each of the projects it focuses on.
The Committee’s overarching project principles include the consideration and incorporation of appropriate design and functionality components that encourage inclusiveness, vibrancy, activation and a strong sense of place to flourish. These are aided by the application of access, heritage and indigenous interpretation, and lighting and technology principles to the various projects.
At the same time, the BDC collaborates with the City of Bunbury to assist in facilitating further opportunities for growth and prosperity of the Bunbury Central Business District.
