Bunbury Speedway will receive $30,000 towards the urgent repair works necessary for racing to go ahead at the venue this sprint car season.
Immediate improvements are required for the speedway to achieve the national standard for upcoming events in 2021 while the speedway resolves longer term works required to ensure accreditation beyond 2021.
Works will be carried out to catch fence cables, catch fence structure, mesh and a concrete wall in order for the speedway to meet requirements. The funding will allow immediate infrastructure issues to be addressed so track requirements are met in time for the venue to host a leg of the WA Sprintcar Speedweek on New Year’s Day.
Race runs attract visitors from outside the region, providing a boost to the local economy each season.
The funding provided to the Bunbury Car Club to fund immediate repair works is provided through the South West Development Commission.
