Chance to be part of the Working Life Heritage Trail - 2 July 2009

South West tourist attractions with a heritage theme have the opportunity to become part of a special trail that showcases the region’s unique past and rich culture.

The Working Life Heritage Trail was created by the South West Development Commission in partnership with heritage site operators in 2000 and has grown to include 19 diverse and fascinating sites.

There is currently a chance for more sites to join Working Life and new brochures promoting the trail and its attractions are being developed.

South West Working Life Association chairman David Partridge invited suitable sites to apply to be part of the increasingly popular tourist route.

“The trail is aimed at those tourists interested in heritage and culture, with an emphasis on the pioneers who helped shape the South West region,” he said.

Mr Partridge, whose White Rocks farm is included in the trail, said there were many benefits of being part of Working Life including publicity at an eye-catching and comprehensive display at the Bunbury Visitor Centre.

“The Working Life sites are a diverse mix marketed under a common branding,” he said.

“Under its constitution each Working Life site retains its own identity and independence, but freely promotes other sites in the trail under a policy of ‘mutual benefit’.

“The South West Working Life Association has a dynamic committee which is dedicated to the promotion of the trail and our pioneering heritage.”
