Ace year ahead for local employment recruiter - 27 January 2009
A passion for matching the right people to the right jobs has proven crucial to the early success of a local Aboriginal employment service.
In its first 15 months of operation, Aboriginal Challenge Employment Services (ACES) found jobs for 100 people.
Manager Bud Coe predicts this number will grow quickly in 2009.
“We expect to place another 100 people into employment in the months to June 30 2009,” he said.
Established in August 2007 as the employment and training division of Needac Ltd, ACES provides pre-employment and vocational training, employment placement and mentoring services to Indigenous clients and employers.
It offers recruitment and assessment services including psychometric and skills testing, tailored to an employer’s specific requirements to identify the best candidates available.
Outreach services, including training delivered to regional towns to meet employer needs, are also a key component of the work done by ACES.
And this year it will add another dimension to its services when it launches a new program to help Indigenous high school students achieve their education and employment goals.
Mr Coe said ACES had a bright year ahead and acknowledged its clients for the recruiter’s success.
“The outstanding commitment our clients have shown to their employment means that 90 per cent of clients are still in employment after three months, and 75 per cent after six months,” he said.
“This is an excellent result for our clients and our employers.”
Mr Coe said ACES is delivered under contract to the Department of Employment, Education and Workplace Relations and the Department of Education and Training.
ACES is located at 177 Spencer Street, Bunbury and can be contacted by phoning 9781 4500.
