Celebrate the Back Beach - 8 January 2009

There will be sun, sand and celebrations at Bunbury’s Back Beach this month when families are treated to a free community event.

Designed to commemorate the new-look Back Beach, the occasion will give people the chance to kick start their Australia Day long weekend.

There will be a free sausage sizzle, fairy floss machine, bouncy castle, balloon twister and face painter, as well as live music from the Bunbury City Band.

“We’re encouraging families to visit the beach for a swim and enjoy the free sausage sizzle and activities on offer”, South West Development Commission chief executive Don Punch said.

“It’s a great opportunity to make use of the Back Beach, which has been superbly enhanced by a $16 million project funded by the South West Development Commission, City of Bunbury and Western Power.”

The Back Beach celebration will take place from 4pm to 6pm on January 23 on the grassed area to the left of the City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club.
