Spotlight shines on South West projects- 7 August 2008
Three projects making a difference in the South West will receive national attention during a conference in New South Wales this month.
Alan Cross, Ashley Clements and Deanna Giumelli from the South West Development Commission will travel to Albury to promote the initiatives at the 12th Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia conference.
Bunbury Wellington regional coordinator Alan Cross will talk about Lake Kepwari, a plan to turn a former open-cut coal mine in Collie into a recreational lake.
Infrastructure project officer Ashley Clements will speak about efforts to establish a digital media industry in Bunbury.
And Warren Blackwood regional coordinator Deanna Giumelli will talk about the mobile youth space, a custom-built caravan jam packed with youth-oriented activities.
South West Development Commission chief executive Don Punch welcomed the inclusion of the projects in the conference.
“This is an excellent opportunity for the region to be recognised at a national forum,” he said.
