Water focus for seminar - 18 July 2008
People interested in how a shortage of water could affect the future development of the South West are encouraged to attend a seminar in Bunbury this week.
The event is the third in the popular Critical Horizons series run by the South West Development Commission.
It will include presentations by water experts such as Australian Research Centre for Water in Society group leader Jeff Camkin, Queensland Water commissioner Jamie Quinn and Western Australia Department of Water director general Kim Taylor.
South West Development Commission chief executive officer Don Punch, who will also speak at the seminar, urged local leaders to attend the event.
“We will examine water and how we might manage this precious resource into the future,” he said.
“If you are seriously interested in future access to water and how its scarcity might affect you then this is a vital seminar.”
The event will be held at Edith Cowan University South West Campus on Thursday, July 24 from 10.30am to 3pm.
