Warren Equestrian Centre, Kanny Park Manjimup
In mid-2004 representatives of the Warren Pony Club, Manjimup Trotting Association, Warren Horseman’s Club and the Southern Forrest Show jumping Association banded together to plan the development of a new central equestrian facility for the region.
From this, the Warren Equestrian Centre project evolved.
Since then, extensive planning and development meetings have taken place and the project secured a $54,400.00 grant from the Department of Sport and Recreation.
The new equestrian centre will be located on the western outskirts of Manjimup and a full conceptual plan has been developed of the centre and arena.
Spokesman for the Working Group, Peter Adams has said: “Support for the project has been fantastic with local businesses, individual club members and the Shire all offering direct or in kind support toward the overall development.”
The South West Development Commission has been directly involved in the development of this project.
A Regional Development grant of $16,500.00 to assist in the proposal, and direct assistance from the SWDC Manjimup Office, has resulted in successful applications to State departments for funding.
The total cost of the project will be $608,000.00.
Earthworks are in progress and sub-soil plumbing is now complete.
The project is well underway with completion expected in late 2006.
