Bunbury Waterfront project
Plans to redevelop Bunbury’s waterfront into a showpiece for the city continue to stride ahead, with Eastside precinct now open for public comment.
The project, set to revitalise the city’s waterfront area, create stronger links between the CBD and the waterfront and turn the Outer Harbour into an international-style marina, is being headed up by LandCorp in conjunction with the City of Bunbury.
The Eastside precinct is the first phase of the waterfront project and takes in the area between Koombana Drive, Blair Street and the Leschenault Inlet.
The precinct is designed to create a better transition between the city and the waterfront through creation of new corridors and improved pedestrian access.
The plan focuses on improving the vibrancy of waterfront by “activating” the area through better public open space and creation of commercial areas for businesses such as cafes and alfresco restaurants.
Development of the area would be designed to complement the existing main street.
The proposed plan is available to view at City of Bunbury offices, local libraries or at www.bunbury.wa.gov.au
The comment period closes on June 6 2008.
