Export services boost growing international market
The South West’s ability to produce a wide range of premium products is likely to gain it increasing international attention according to TradeStart export adviser Mat Lewis.
Mr Lewis, who works in partnership with the South West Development Commission to develop export opportunities in the region, said the South West excelled in producing a range of high quality product.
“There is increasing international focus on pristine and green product and rising demand for specialist agriculture product such as wine and food,” he said.
And the region still had plenty of untapped international potential.
“As technology allows people to be more flexible where they work I think more niche businesses with export services will increase in the region,” he said.
“I think we will see a rise in the creative industries as well as environmental technology. Major markets will be looking to the South West for their input in these areas.”
In the past few months Mr Lewis had featured South West product in trade shows in India, the US and Asia. Follow up trips are planned in India, the US, Singapore and China.
“Where possible we encourage local producers and businesses to join us at these trade shows,” he said.
