South West Community Foundation

South West residents and businesses can make donations or bequests to benefit the community in which they live with the establishment this year of the South West Community Foundation (SWCF).

To kick off the foundation, the State Government has allocated $100,000 through the South West Development Commission.

“By donating you will be supporting youth, health and aged care, crime prevention, arts and culture, indigenous and sporting projects – among others – that develop the physical, social and future capacity of communities,” said Jon Birch, inaugural Chairman of the SWCF.

The SWCF has an inaugural Board consisting of community, business and government representatives, and has been working hard to set up a system where individuals or organisations can donate into the Foundation and so interest earned can be distributed to support local community projects in the future.

The SWCF operates under the umbrella of the Western Australian Community Foundation (WACF) and donations and bequests are pooled so they can be strategically allocated for maximum benefit to the community.

“Once we reach the 12 month target of $500,000, the Foundation will be in a position to allocate funds to worthwhile projects,” Mr Birch said.
