Southern Regions' Community Leadership Forum
Imagine a junior footy match without a coach, or the local services clubs without a president or secretary.
Recognising the value of community leaders such as these, the South West Development Commission has been a strong contributor to the annual Southern Regions’ Community Leadership Forum.
This year’s forum, hosted in Katanning on 7-8 September followed on from the successful inaugural forum in Bunbury in 2005.
The forum gave community “doers” the opportunity to network, hear inspirational speakers and partake in a wide selection of workshops.
It also provides an excellent opportunity for delegates to network with others who are working on projects similar to their own, and find out about the challenges that they may experience.
Master of Ceremonies for the 2006 Forum was writer and comedian Jon Doust who introduced speakers including:
Anthony Kelly from Oxfam speaking on “A Vision for Connected Communities –from Grassroots to Global”
Tim Muirhead from CSD Networks on “Developing collaborative approaches and capacity building in communities”
Sylvia Marina an international educator, profiler and conference speaker, talking on “Pushing through limiting factors, and grasping opportunities to leave a positive impact for future generations.”
