South West Business Relocation Strategy

A major push to encourage Perth-based businesses to relocate into the South West is underway to ensure the region’s prosperity continues beyond the current boom.

The South West Development Commission is currently investigating the potential to attract Perth-based businesses and industry to the South West.

In order to determine the interest or need to relocate, in-depth assessments of candidate Perth-based businesses have been conducted, looking at factors constraining their development or expansion.

To this end the study includes in-depth interviews with Perth-based businesses, industry associations and other relevant bodies on a managerial level.

The study targets Perth-based businesses in light and heavy industrial areas in various industries, including wholesale, transport and storage, construction and manufacturing.

Focus has been on those metropolitan zones that are experiencing a transition from industry to mixed use, or bordering residential areas, resulting in potentially conflicting land uses.

The South West Business Relocation Strategy will identify and recommend a range of actions to attract constrained metro-based businesses to the South West Region.

The final report detailing the marketing strategy is expected soon.
