Building and Construction
Construction in the South West Region makes a valuable contribution to economic activity with the value of building approvals in 2008/09 totalling $605.8 million (7.2 per cent of the State total).
This was the highest value for construction for any region outside the Perth Metropolitan Area.

Residential
The value of residential approvals in 2008/09 was $492.7 million.
A $50 million housing development at Dalyellup Beach, south of Bunbury, is currently underway and this will continue the strong residential growth of the Greater Bunbury area. Another new land development south west of Busselton, Vasse Newtown, will be a self sustainable community that will accommodate the growing housing demand in the Margaret River and Busselton regions.
Non residential
The value of non-residential approvals in 2008/09 was $113.1 million, which accounted for 19 per cent of the region's total value of building approvals.
