The Economy in Australia's South West
The South West Region of Western Australia has a diverse regional economy with abundant mineral deposits, rich hardwood forests, fertile soils for agriculture and substantial manufacturing, retail, construction, tourism and fishing industries.
The Region's gross regional product is estimated at around A$9.867 billion (2007/08).
The mining industry is the largest industry sector in the region, and in particular the South West is a leading world producer of alumina and mineral sands.
The South West also supports thriving dairy, beef, fruit and vegetable, and wine industries.

Economic growth is being driven by industry expansions, tourism appeal and rising global demand for quality South West food, timber and minerals.
