SOUTH WEST CORONARY CARE UNIT
St John of God Hospital Bunbury

The State Government  has announced that $5 million in Royalties for Regions funding would be used to establish Western Australia's first regional coronary care unit. A six-bed coronary care unit will be built at St John of God Hospital in Bunbury to each year provide care for more than 2,000 South-West residents hospitalised with acute cardiac conditions. The new facility which will open in 2012 will include an angiography suite which will enable people who have had heart attacks or are suffering chest pain to receive the care they need close to home.

Eaton Town Centre Expansion

Bunbury based developer Citygate Properties Pty Ltd has plans for a $65 million second stage development of the Eaton Fair Shopping Centre into the Eaton Town Centre. The development plans include a discount store, a second supermarket, a cinema precinct with related café and restaurant facilities, a town square, a civic precinct, a commercial office precinct and a residential development component.. The expansion is set to make Eaton  a major retail centre and also give the rapidly growing area a town centre which would become the focal point for the community. Construction is expected to commence  in 2012.
Expenditure: $65 million

BUNBURY CANCER CENTRE PRECINCT
St John of God Hospital Bunbury

St John of God Hospital Bunbury will build and operate a $25 million comprehensive cancer centre precinct on the South West Health Campus, resulting in greater choice, affordability and access to cancer services for South West residents. The two-storey, 1300m2 centre will accommodate expanded chemotherapy services, cancer consultant suites, on-site breast screening, a pharmacy, expanded cancer imaging and therapeutic services, as well as research and teaching facilities Visit www.sjog.org.au/hospitals/bunbury.aspx for more information.

ST. PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL, BUNBURY

The new St Patrick's Cathedral precinct was officially opened in March 2011. The precinct was extensively damaged by a destructive tornado in May 2005, resulting in the old cathedral being damaged beyond repair. The new cathedral, with its soaring bell tower and glass spire, is now a Bunbury landmark. One of its many other features is the enormous side windows painted by world-renowned artist Robert Juniper. Building the new cathedral was a rare event and this iconic community asset will play a vital role in the spiritual and social fabric of the South West. BUSSELTON JETTY
Shire of Busselton

The $27.1 million project to refurbish the iconic Busselton Jetty is now complete. The project, which was managed by the Shire of Busselton, involved the replacement of approximately 50 per cent of the 1.84 kilometre existing jetty structure - 900 metres of which was demolished.
