Bunbury a step closer to having a world-class waterfront
The Western Australian government has announced funding towards the proposed Bunbury waterfront project, paving the way for work to progress on the project.
The $23.8million funding contribution from the State Government will cover development costs for the first stage of the project and includes a $3.5million contribution to the City of Bunbury for the demolition and part restoration of Bunbury's old timber jetty.
Stage one will comprise two development areas at Koombana North and Marlston North and provide a mix of commercial, tourist and residential uses, as well as improved public open space.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held in January 2013 to mark the start of improvements to the ski beach and foreshore.
