Major event to showcase local business and industry in the South West

Thursday, 16 November 2017

The upcoming Procure South West event in Bunbury is shaping up to be the region's biggest showcase of industry and business capability, as well as an important networking event.

Part conference, part tradeshow, the event will give attendees a chance to discover what local businesses have to offer, connect with large companies in the region, learn about career opportunities, and keep up-to-date with industry trends.

Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan will officially open the event, which will feature a diverse line-up of speakers including 2017 Telstra Western Australian Business Woman of the Year Jennifer Franceschi from Manjimup-based processing facility Fresh Produce Alliance.

There will be presentations on topics ranging from doing business with government to women in non-traditional trades, and surveying and drone technology.

Major projects such as the Talison Lithium mine expansion at Greenbushes will also be a focus.

The South West Development Commission is part of the organising committee for the forum and encouraged local people to check out the displays and presentations over Friday November 24 and Saturday November 25.

"We'll be teaming up with the Department of Finance to give attendees a chance to learn more about pathways to procurement, as well as find out how our local content officer program is working to keep local jobs and tenders in the region," SWDC acting chief executive officer Rebecca Ball said.

"We will also be highlighting some of the major projects coming up in the South West, Peel and Great Southern that local businesses may wish to flag for possible future work opportunities."

Procure South West will be held in the South Regional TAFE's automotive centre over Friday November 24 and Saturday November 25. There are a number of ticketing options, starting from $20 for a one-day pass to attend the tradeshow.
