Connecting local businesses to perimeter road project

Tuesday, 7 November 2017

Local businesses were connected to the main contractor for the second stage of the Margaret River Perimeter Road project at a recent event organised by the South West Development Commission.

A range of businesses and organisations attended the information and networking session on Thursday November 2 for the chance to learn more about the project and meet the Margaret River Perimeter Road Joint Venture.

Comprising WBHO Infrastructure and SRG Civil, the Margaret River Perimeter Road Joint Venture was in August awarded the $22.8million contract to build stage two of the project.

SWDC acting chief executive officer Rebecca Ball said positive feedback was received about the event, which highlighted opportunities for local businesses interested in working on the project.

"It was a great opportunity for attendees to find out more about the project and connect with the project in a meaningful way," Ms Ball said.

"Attendees were not only given an overview of the project, but they also had a chance to discuss with the Joint Venture how they might be able to support the delivery of the second stage of the project.

"We plan to hold similar events for other State Government-funded projects in the future."

Local Project, Local Opportunities events like the one which focused on the perimeter road have been put on the business calendar by SWDC as part of its efforts to ensure that State Government money being spent on major projects flows to local businesses.

It forms part of SWDC's efforts to support local businesses and generate jobs through the local content officer program, which aims to develop, promote and maximise opportunities to keep local jobs and tenders in the region.
