Holiday to help

Wednesday, 30 November 2011

South West Development Commission chief executive officer Don Punch has urged people not to cancel plans to holiday in the Margaret River region following the recent bushfire.

"The best way to show your support for Margaret River is to follow through on your holiday plans," he said.

"There is still plenty to see and do in the area despite the bushfire and I encourage people to continue visiting this wonderful area of our State in the weeks and months ahead.

"The bushfire occurred away from the town centre and the majority of the region's attractions, including its famous wineries, are open for business."

Mr Punch said the Margaret River region held a special place in the hearts of many West Australians and he encouraged people to visit the region over the coming holiday period.

"It's not often people can help a cause by simply going on holiday or enjoying a day trip, but this is one occasion where by vacationing you will assist," he said.

"Local retailers and tourist operators are among those who stand to benefit from your support."
