City makes digital debut

Bunbury may be a long way from New York City, but it now has an artwork that wouldn't be out of place in Times Square.

The new artwork which plays out on a large screen attached to the Bunbury library brings a delightful digital dimension to the city's arts scene.

When the sun goes down, this artwork comes to life, telling the fascinating story of Bunbury's past - shipwrecks and all.

Something I especially like about this short film is the fact locals took on starring roles. It's great to see so many familiar faces up on the big screen.

Make sure you check out the film, it screens nightly.

On the subject of using technology in artful ways to enhance the capital city of the South West, we are pleased to say that a plan to transform Bunbury into a city of lights is progressing.

The South West Development Commission has officially entered into an agreement with the City of Bunbury to carry out a study to support the initiative.

Under the proposal, the city's central business district and foreshore area would be transformed using light in creative ways.

As part of the plan, light could be projected on to buildings and other objects for special occasions.

It is a time of change and fresh starts for councils in each of the South West's 12 local government areas.

With the votes from the recent elections counted, we would like to welcome the newly elected and reappointed representatives to council.

Councillors play an important role in our community and we wish them the best in their roles.
