Supporting tourism initiatives
Taking a road trip is one of life's great adventures. And there is no doubt a number of you will be heading to the Perth Caravan and Camping Show, which begins tomorrow and runs through to Monday.
Be sure to stop by the Working Life Heritage Trail's display at the show where there will be the chance to win prizes by entering a competition.
A partnership between the South West Development Commission and individual site operators, the trail provides a link between heritage-themed attractions in the South West region.
Each attraction gives people a window into the South West's past and the people who helped shape this great region.
For instance, did you know the Wellington Dam was built during the Great Depression and was part of efforts to provide jobs for people out of work?
The story of the industrial development of the South West is
fascinating. It is a story about people, their dreams and
aspirations and their achievements. We have far more history than
you can imagine in our South West.

On the subject of tourism, the South West Development Commission is pleased to announce it has appointed eight people from around the region to a new tourism committee.
Representing the tourism industry and the wider community, the group will help set the direction of tourism development in the region and provide guidance to the SWDC board on tourism issues and opportunities.
Tourism touches every one of our communities, helping small business and creating jobs. One of the first items on the agenda will be how to grow international tourism to our region and support the development of Busselton Regional Airport.
The committee is expected to meet for the first time in April.
