Stunning South West coastline graces the big screen

The world has been given its first look at Drift, the new feature film being shot in our wonderful South West.

And it's clear from the image below that the region is set to be a star of the movie.

You can't help but notice Gracetown's ruggedly beautiful coastline in the picture.

In fact, Drift's capacity to bring people's attention to the region was one of the reasons the South West Development Commission and Royalties for Regions decided to support the filming of the movie through $1million in funding.

This funding will be a worthwhile investment, considering the global exposure the region is set to receive on the back of the movie.

But it's not all about promotion of the South West on an international scale.

Another reason we have supported the movie is because of the employment opportunities it will provide.

More than 70 people from Western Australia are set to be employed on the six-week shoot, with many of them from the South West.

Local suppliers and businesses are also set to benefit from the filming of Drift.

And South West residents will be able share in a little movie magic by playing extras in a film featuring Hollywood favourite Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans, Terminator Salvation).
