The South West region offers a rich and fascinating mix of cultural experiences.
The Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre is the main hub for performing arts and hosts visits from local, national and international performers.
The annual Leeuwin Estate Winery Concert Series is a highlight in Australia's social and cultural calendar.
Visitors from throughout the nation and abroad, make the annual pilgrimage to the vineyard to picnic on the lawn and enjoy the music of some of the world's greatest performers.
There are also many regular events throughout the region. Historic Bridgetown is famous for its annual blues music festival and Boyup Brook comes alive for its annual country music festival and awards.
Margaret River Wine Festival held annually in November is the place for fantastic cuisine, world-renowned wines and an astounding natural environment.
Other notable festivals include the Balingup Medieval Fair, Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival, Pemberton Marron & Wine Festival and the Tulip Festival in Nannup.
The region is also home to many artisans and galleries and a thriving arts industry.
Visitors come to buy fine timber furniture made from the majestic karri, marri and jarrah hardwoods, fine art, craft and pottery.
The South West has a rich history of Aboriginal occupation dating back to around 38,000 years ago.
Indigenous artworks by the Aboriginal Noongar people are inspired by their complex relationship to the land.
Overseas buyers have embraced the styles of the Noongar works and the stories behind them, with pieces having found homes as far away as Milan in Italy and Nantucket in Massachusetts.
