Shire of Nannup

Overview

The Shire of Nannup, with a population of 1,325 (2008), is nestled in the heart of the Blackwood Valley. A favorite for scenery, particularly forest and nature based pastimes, Nannup has benefited from a stable economy over a long period of time. Historically, Nannup was a timber milling town and while timber is still a major industry, the area’s natural beauty, together with its unique character and heritage, is becoming a popular tourist drawcard in the South West Region.

Nannup is part of the outstanding Balingup/Nannup/Bridgetown tourist drive, one of the very best in the state. Coastal access, national parks and its close proximity to the Margaret River Wine Region bring many tourists to the area. The shire also has a strong agricultural sector with dairy, beef cattle, horticulture, floriculture and viticulture operations in the area.
