What can the Commission do for skilled migrants?
- We advise you on your eligibility for regional employer sponsored migration.
- We guide you in your research into business and employment opportunities. Current job vacancies in the South West.
- We provide you with information on and material for applying for residence under the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme and the Long Stay Temporary Business Visa.
- We assist the prospective employer in the sponsorship process under the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme and the Long Stay Temporary Business Visa.

State sponsored VISA schemes in WA
The Western Australian Government sponsors two visa schemes:
- The Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa
- The Skilled Sponsored Visa
These schemes make it possible for migrants to live and work in regional areas where there is a skills shortage created by the State’s strong economic growth.
Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa – Temporary Residency
- have an occupation on the Western Australian Occupations in Demand List (WAOIDL);
- have an occupation on the Australian Skills Occupation List (SOL) that is supported by a Regional Development Commission (RDC) on the basis there is a demand for the skills that cannot reasonably be filled locally;
- commit to living and working in a regional area of Western Australia; and
- bring sufficient funds into the State to cover settlement costs.
Skilled Sponsored Visa – Permanent Residency
- have an occupation on the Western Australian Occupations in Demand List (WAOIDL);
- commit to living and working in Western Australia;
- participate in a survey every 6 months for 2 years; and
- bring sufficient funds into the State to cover settlement costs.
