Health

The Australian health care system is one of the best in the world with all citizens and permanent residents entitled to free or low-cost health care, including free hospital care.

The South West Health Campus in Bunbury is the major medical centre for the region with 24 hour emergency care and a wide range of support services. The campus includes a public 130 bed hospital and a private 80 bed hospital, a medical centre and mental and community health facilities.

In the South West there is a high focus on community health services which include maternity support, child health clinics, school-based immunisation and dental care, and intensive youth education programs.

Throughout the region are a number of smaller district hospitals, specialist medical services and community based health services, aged care facilities and retirement villages.
