A tonic for local clubs and community organisations - 21 February 2008
Help is at hand for local community organisations needing management and administration skills and advice thanks to Club Doctors and Volunteers South West.
The two groups have joined forces to provide assistance for organisations and the volunteers who run them in an effort to support their hard work.
“A lot of community organisations have passion but lack management know-how. We provide a free counselling service to help in these areas,” Club Doctors spokesman and former accountant Stephen Foster said.
“As our name suggests, we aim to be a tonic for clubs, to improve their overall health. We have already helped more than 100 organisations across the entire South West, from Harvey to Walpole.”
Mr Foster said Club Doctors was an initiative of the Rotary Club of Bunbury Leschenault initiative made up of six counsellors, all Rotarians with diverse and extensive experience of community organisations, working on a one-on-one basis.
He said the group had received financial support from the South West Development Commission.
“The partnership with Volunteers South West will enhance our service even further,” Mr Foster said.
“They will give us administrative support and also help us connect with a lot of community organisations through their own operations.”
Volunteers South West manager Tania Jackson said her group provided support for hard working community-based organisations such as Club Doctors.
“Our communities rely on volunteers to deliver many services for people in need,” she said.
“But the demands on their time, coupled with administration and management, can put a lot of pressure on them.
“Club Doctors helps support many of those volunteer groups in that area. We are glad to assist them in their efforts.”
